| | My new favorite smoothie: Ginger PearOctober 11, 2010 - Justin McIntoshThis ginger pear smoothie from Brendan Brazier's "Thrive" has quickly become my go-to smoothie for breakfast. The smoothie's refreshing bite gives it a definite fall feel to me. Of course, the pear tree in my backyard, overflowing with ripe, but insanely hard pears, adds to that feeling too (Seriously, anyone know why my pears are so hard? Cursory Internet research suggests the fruit from my pear tree is meant more for canning. Is this true? How do get it softer for my smoothies?). It's another quick, easy smoothie that never fails to fill me up and energize me a bit. All you need is 1/2 pear, cored, a banana, water, ground flaxseed, protein powder and some grated ginger. Delicious! CHAsMOMOct-11-10 7:57 PM Well, I finally got my copy of "Thrive" and I am loving it. Brendan's story is just as compelling as the recipes. This weekend I tried oatmeal with bee pollen, flaxseed and wheat germ. I flavored it with some cinnamon and vanilla extract. It was not bad. This is going to take some getting used to, but I feel better than I ever have and I have more energy. Thanks Justin! Post a Comment | |
