Boys vs. girls

Sugar and spice and everything nice,

That's what little girls are made of.

Snips and snails and puppy dog tails,

That's what little boys are made of.

It's a strange little poem. I'm not sure what the title is, who wrote it or where it originated. For the purposes of this blog, I was too lazy to look it up. (Feel free, faithful readers.)

But it is a poem we are all familiar with, citing the various differences (albeit slightly skewed) between boys and girls.

When I first learned I was going to be a mom, I was hoping for a boy. I'm not sure why. I had always been better friends with boys/men and figured I would be able to better relate to a little boy.

But I was happily blessed with a little girl and I have no idea now what I would do with a little boy if things had been different. Life is funny that way.

With my daughter and my nephew being born so close together, I have been able to observe their development and what happens when they reach the same milestones and just how different boys and girls really are.
